For a long time, Just 'Cuz Robotics has focused on bringing you the absolute best user experience and ease of use in our products. Now, the Blitz Pro motor brings you amazing performance, while being even shorter than any other 24mm drive gearmotor on the market. Our custom Blitz Pro 2306 650kV drive motor is one-of-a-kind, designed to bring insane performance into a small package. With an outer diameter of <28mm and motor length of only 9.2mm behind the gearbox, the Blitz Pro motor is only 1/3rd the length of our DartBox 130 can motors. With this combination of an ultra-low 650kV motor and a single stage 5.2:1 gear ratio, you can use this motor on 3S-6S (and maybe higher!) voltage with no issues. As a bonus, this low reduction made for a quasi-direct-drive actuator, which is much more easily back-driven putting less strain on the geartrain and reducing the likelihood of failure. The single-stage reduction also means these run super efficiently, using up to 4 times less battery than brushed alternatives, and a bit less than most other brushless motor options.

We Love Performance Data And You Should Too!

Measuring brushless motor torque is hard, but we made a custom motor testing rig to get this data so you can know exactly what you are paying for!  This is something no other combat robot parts manufacturer has done for brushless drive motors to date! We are working to upgrade the setup for a full motor torque/power curve and automated testing. What data we have now will be shown in the "Usage Info and Specs" tab. Blitz Pro 2306 motors produce over double the peak torque of Dragon motors on 12V without a gearbox and can deliver much more power without melting down at higher voltages. Accounting for the gearbox, you can get Dragon-like torque performance from Blitz Pro 5.2:1 on 6S, and Viper-like on 3-4S. (We tested a Repeat Max 2004 27:1 for comparison but it smoked on 3S and delivered about the same max torque as a Dragon 22:1 before then).

But the motor is only half the equation, you need an ESC made to match, and you can now buy a Plug-n-Play pre-programmed 35A AM32 drive ESC! You just need to cut the power wires to length and solder on an XT30U connector.  The preattached MR30 plug will ensure your motors connect the same way every time. Use your radio transmitter to set the correct directions and controls by following our handy video guide

DartBox Pro gearboxes are built to last with the best materials available. One-piece, hardened alloy steel 6mm diameter output shaft, dual ball bearing shaft support, machined aluminum outer construction, with all steel internal gears. M3 threaded face mounting, with a lightened square faceplate perfect for keying into a 3D-printed chassis. Motor mount plates with added ribs to keep the motor secure after the biggest impacts, and take shear load off the tiny mount screws. Big module 0.4 planetary gears for greater torque. While these Pro gearboxes are larger than our lightweight DartBox V2 square gear motors, they compensate for that with a vastly more rugged design.

Built for 3lb “Beetleweight” combat robots, and plenty of other applications. The price shown is for one motor + gearbox, assembled.
Replacement shafts are now available as well as bare gearboxes, and replacement motors should be available by early 2025.

For wheel mounting, pair with our, 12mm hex hubs or lightweight 6mm bore Flange Hubs.

Usage Info and Specs

Usage Info

2X Blitz Pro 5.2:1 drive motors can be used to spin the wheels for nearly any 3 pound bot. The hardened steel output shafts on these gearmotors will easily handle direct-drive applications. These are great for running exposed wheels. The 27:1 ratio is not intended for drive applications but is perfect for a hammersaw arm motor or any other application that requires some serious torque at a much slower speed. Imagine the 27:1 as a servo on steroids, but with no positional control.

If you mount a wheel directly to the shaft of these motors, make sure to cut the shaft so it doesn’t stick out! Direct hits to a shaft are the easiest way to break a motor!

WARNING: Sensorless brushless motors have wildly different performance based on the ESC and settings used. If you aren't happy with the performance, there is a good chance you have your ESC settings wrong!

Specs:

  • Weight:
    • 5.2:1 Ratio weighs 70.5 grams (2.49 oz) (Best for drive)
    • 27:1 Ratio weighs 77.8 grams (2.74 oz)
    • NOTE: These weights include 105mm long silicone 20AWG wires and an MR30 connector which adds a few grams!
  • Speed 5.2:1:
    • 1500 RPM on 12V/3S, 2000 RPM on 16V/4S
    • 2500 RPM on 18V/5S, 3000 RPM on 24V/6S
  • Speed 27:1:
    • 290 RPM on 12V/3S, 386 RPM on 16V/4S
    • 483 RPM on 18V/5S, 579 RPM on 24V/6S
  • Dimensions: CAD Assembly Here
    • Gearbox Diameter: 24mm
    • Length: 5.2:1 Blitz Pro is just 37 mm from the mount to rear of motor
    • Gearbox length
      • 22.9mm (1 stage 5.2:1)
      • 27.9mm (2 stage 27:1)
    • Shaft: 38mm long, 6mm diameter billet alloy steel D shaft
    • 4X M3 Screw face mount, 18mm bolt circle

TEST DATA (will be updated after future testing with a WIP disk brake dyno):

  • Torque - Note these are preliminary measurements from our Prony Brake dyno
    • Peak torque before stall, 27:1 Ratio, 2.7Nm on 12V, 101mNm Motor only (Bench supply)
    • Peak torque before stall, 120mNm 27:1 Ratio, 3.2Nm on 16V 120mNm motor only (Bench supply)
    • These equate to about 0.52 Nm and 0.62 Nm with 5.2:1 Ratio or 74 ozf (12V) and 88 ozf-in (16V) respectively. Note this is not at 0 RPM though and so the equivalent "stall torque" is higher when comparing brushed motors
    • Essentially expect roughly Viper 22:1 torque from a Blitz Pro 5.2:1 on 3S/12V and roughly Dragon 22:1 torque performance on 6S/24V
  • Efficiency: through 27:1 gearbox
    • Peak measured efficiency 73.5% on 12V, 75%, on 16V, 68.2%, on 24V/6S
  • Peak Output Power: 71 Watts, 43% efficiency, on 6S/24V (7100RPM, 91 mNm motor only)
  • Peak Input Current: 8.75A on 3S, 10.32A on 6S. This is highly ESC/settings dependent, tested with stall protection on and stuck rotor protection off.
  • Phase Resistance: 0.619 ohms (619 mOhms)

ESC Settings

The AM32 ESCs we sell should give you the best performance - as long as the settings are correct!
As of 9/17/2024 the AM32 latest stable release is V2.12 and that is what our newest AM32 35A ESCs come with.

Note about kV setting - for such a low 650kV motor this setting is super important! Your ideal KV setting will change based on the input voltage. If you are running 6S, the kV on the ESC should match the motor as close as possible. If you run 3S, the AM32 KV setting should be half as much as the motor at around 325kV. If you set this too high you may experience limited peak motor RPM.

The other settings we recommend leaving as shown below, except braking which you can play with to get the 'feel' or responsiveness you desire.
