Meet the Bots!
Team Just 'Cuz Robotics has a small army of combat robots which we bring to competitions all over! Watch a few event recaps to learn more about each bot.
Let customers speak for us
from 52 reviewsThis kit was the first kit that I got as a beginner builder, and the kit could not have been more simple. The Instruction video and doc was very helpful for understanding how each part gets put together, and covered all outside setup steps that a beginner builder like me would not have known to set up. Overall a very solid kit.
Took about an hour to an hour and a half to build. Instructions were clear and easy (caveat that I've used the motherboard before so I had a head start on soldering etc. for it) and the bot is much faster than I expected! Weka ESC is a nice step up from the old brushless desc. Easy mixing setup and it's tiny. I mostly wanted a simple bot to beat up on with some home designs and the SSP looks to be a small brick of fury.
Held off on reviewing my SSP kit until I had fought it at a competition. On its debut it went 2-2 and narrowly missing out on advancing to the next round due to finishing 9th place.
I have had to adapt the robot to fit UK beetle rules by adding a removable link and adding an LED light. Being about 200g lighter than most UK beetle weights I was worried about being pushed around and smashed to pieces by bigger weapon bars. The kit held up strong and survived many big impacts and no parts were damaged or needed changing after the event. It was fast and had great pushing power as well.
The only criticism I have is the servo is slow and could do with maybe longer forks as I felt robots kept falling off the end of the forks when it lifted and didn’t flip them over.
Looking forward to my next event and further updates to the bot.
Love the board in half life makes repairs quick and easy would recommend to any new builds if you have the space
Choosing these was probably overkill for what I'm doing but my last bot's gearbox disintegrated on me so, if nothing else, that won't be a problem this next time. Great quality. If you're wondering if you should buy them, just do it.
Works just as advertised. Small, effective, and very easy to set up. Haven't battle tested it yet but otherwise very happy with the purchase.
Got roofed many times but the escs for my drive kept kicking. Would recommend to anyone looking for beetle weight brushless drive. Worked out of box with no modification to firmware
I bought an SSP to learn how to build a robot, and it certainly delivered. Every part needed, and detailed instructions on how to assemble it (with videos as well). Very satisfied, and would definitely recommend for anyone else who is looking to get started in combat robotics but don't know how to start.
We’ve been using early copies of the WEKA including in one tournament and they’ve been great. We are using them with viper motors and the drive works great. The “Simon says” setup makes wiring these super simple.
The only switch that I had used before was the small fingertech switch which is alright, but soldering to it took some practice and required some splitting to get going. On this switch I was able to directly solder all of my connections through which took far less time. Also if you use a dual motor esc then you have an extra output to potentially hook something up to which I didn't need for my horizontal spinner
The only negative is that you have to solder the washer to the back of the board which I recall being kind of annoying. It's also 4 grams heavier than the fingertech one but that's just negligible on a beetle
These are the smallest and most reliable receivers I've found! In my opinion they're the best choice for any afsdh2a compatible transmitter. There are other similar versions out there that may run different firmware or protocols than your transmitter is set up for so buying straight from JCR is the safest option in my experience.
I've been using these in my antweights for about a year and they're great! I've never experienced meaningful damage to one. I give them to friends regularly to help beef up their designs.
These shoulder bolts were going to cost $120ish from McMaster Carr for a quantity of 10… they work perfectly
as dead shafts for my antweight shuffler, and I cannot recommend these enough.
I've never had any issues with the hex hubs, they just work. I fit them into my own tires because I like more width than the Just Cuz tires. They make your builds easier and stronger.
Amazingly resilient. I use those for most of my builds and I've only had one bend one me and my bot took quite a a hit to do that.
