Peak Durability for 30lb/12lb Bots!

BETA Product Launch - limited availability. If you want these to become a product, please provide feedback on this form!

This is a BETA product launch, only 20 of these were made! Looking for testers for about 12 of these gearboxes/motors. Production design and pricing are subject to change.

Designed in collaboration with Brandon from Bone Dead Robotics, this product was essentially born from asking, “What is your dream gearbox for Vorion and Phenomenon?” The result is the most durable drive gearbox on the market for combat.
CAD Model Here.

Specs

  • Single stage 5.8:1 reduction, basically a Blitz Pro for featherweight bots.
  • Gigantic 17mm ID dual ball bearings support the shaft
  • 1/2" Hex 4140 hardened billet shaft + carrier, with 4mm pins
  • Planet and pinion gears are hobbed steel, ring gear is 7075 aluminum, 9mm long mod 0.7 gears (for reference, Banebots P6H uses 8.9mm long mod 0.6)
  • Gearbox is 40mm square and just 39.3mm long, shorter than any 2-stage competing gearbox
  • Face mount or top/bottom mount with 4X M5, M5 end tapped shaft
  • 7075 aluminum motor mount and face plate with sexy red anodize
  • Can mount motors with 16x19 or 25x25 M3 mounting, 1/8" or 4mm shaft pinion gears (these beta ones will NOT work on 5mm shaft motors, may change in the production batch)
  • Sample motors I have are 3520 stator 4250 can size 600kV with 4mm shafts, generic outrunners
  • Future versions could have a 15mm hex shaft option. The shaft is easily replaceable with snap ring pliers
  • Gearboxes come ungreased; add your own grease or oil of choice with no messy cleanup!
  • Gearbox weight: ~243g with grease added. 446.3g with 4250 motor attached
  • Motor can be mounted with M3 screws (M3 x 10mm socket head recommended)

REWORK NOTICE:
In testing, it was discovered that the motor mount slots can make it difficult to get a perfectly concentric motor mounted. To aid with this problem, our in-house CNC was utilized to add 4 additional counterbored holes for M3 socket head motor mount screws as shown here. This will help with any 25mm x 25mm mount pattern motors like our optional 4250 motors, and has the added benefit of allowing the wires to exit straight out of the top or side instead of at 45 degrees.

Motor Specs and ESC Settings

Make sure to match the motor kV to your motor of choice! Our motor is a 600kV option.

The motor's rated max current is about 60 amps, the no-load current with gearbox is approximately 3 amps at 24V. Peak torque will depend on your exact ESC configuration and settings, but should be around 4.5Nm-5Nm (637-708 ozf-in).
