Just 'Cuz PCB Switch V1.0
Just 'Cuz PCB Switch V1.0

The Just ‘Cuz PCB Switch is perfect for small combat robots! It can deliver more current than XT30 connectors can handle, so it’s very unlikely to be the bottleneck in any robot 3 pounds and under.
Please make sure to solder around the insert nut on the side opposite the screw before using it to ensure a good electrical connection between the nut and the board! CAD files available here.
Additional Info
This little board is pretty much identical to what is on my AIO PD board, but now can be remotely located anywhere inside your robot! This board is very compact, accepts wires up to 14 gauge easily, and should handle current in excess of what will melt XT30 connectors with ease. Need a switch for your 3lb beetleweight or 1lb antweight that is compact, lightweight, and can fit in tight spaces? This is for you!
You can probably also use this switch as a drive power switch or modular power switch in larger bots as it should handle current bursts way above its continuous rating. The only limitation is heat - this switch will operate perfectly until it reaches a temperature of over 90C (194F).
Features and specs:
- Footprint of 23mm x 16mm, just 1.6mm thick at the board
- Weight: 3.01 grams (0.107oz)
- M3 or #4 screw through-hole mounting locations
- Massive solder pads on rear for easy flat connections
- Plated through-holes sized for #16 and #14 wire (smaller or larger gage is still super easy to use)
- Included and preinstalled 8-32 tin-plated press nut (solder this to the surrounding copper to create better surface contact!)
- CAD files available here

WARNING: The bottom of the board has exposed copper regions that, if in contact with a conductive surface, can short circuit and bypass the switch. The top/front of this board is the intended mounting face. If securing this board directly to a metal plate, allow appropriate clearance with an insulating spacer around the switch screw and exposed copper pads on the top. The two provided mounting screw points (non plated holes) will not electrically connect to the circuit. These regions are exposed to allow easy soldering to the underside of the board, but they are separated for a reason!
Warning: combat robots are not toys! They are extremely dangerous. Click here for a safety video.
Operation with a battery at a higher voltage than 6S without an appropriate precharge resistor, or drawing too much current without added cooling, may result in damage to the switch.
While this PCB is designed to safely operate inside a combat robot, it may get very hot. Touching it during, or shortly after operation, can result in serious burns. In the unlikely case where you have difficulty turning off the switch while it is hot, waiting 30-60 seconds for it to cool should resolve the issue.
Testing a robot with an active spinning weapon should never be done while maintaining a line of sight with the robot. Ideally, you should be testing inside an enclosed box or arena with at least 1/4" thick polycarbonate windows or top to see through, and 1/2” or thicker plywood or MDF construction. Operation (Including testing) outside of a suitable arena or test box could cause serious injury.
